We start in Kathmandu on 1st June and will fight our way through the Himalayas and cross the border into India. We’ll then head south-east towards Varanasi and its famous ghats, before going west to ooh and aah at the erotic sculptures in Khajuraho. Then there are a lot of miles chugging south through the dead centre of India before we head east hitting the coast somewhere past Vijayawada. We’ll then follow the coast south, bypassing Chennai and end up at Pondicherry. Sounds easy hey? Distance is approximately 2,500 miles we think. Remember the rickshaw's top speed is somewhere in the region of 40mph on a good day. You do the maths. You can track all the teams and see their text messages by Day 1 : Kathmandu to Bharatpur 140 kms - 87 miles Day 2 : Bharatpur to Azamgarh 382 kms - 238 miles Day 3 : Azamgarh to Varanasi 120 kms - 75 miles Days 4 and 5 : Varanasi to Tala 363 + 21 kms - 238 miles Day 6 : Tala to Ramtek 476 kms - 295 miles (a record day) Day 7 : Ramtek to Nirmal 342 kms - 212 miles Day 8 : Nirmal to Khammam 375 kms - 233 miles Day 9 : Khammam to Nellore 420 kms - 261 miles Day 10 : Nellore to Mamallapuram 223 kms - 139 miles Day 14 : Mamallapuram to Pondicherry 96 kms - 60 miles Total distance travelled = 2958 kms - 1838 miles
